Victorian terraces, Federation homes and apartment buildings in Woollahra, painted with the care period homes need.
I’m Neil. Proview Painting has been trading since 2004, and I come out and quote every Woollahra job myself.
Dulux AccreditedProview Painting are painters in Woollahra and across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Most of Woollahra is Victorian and Edwardian terraces and period homes, on streets like Queen Street and Jersey Road, and a lot of it sits inside Woollahra Council’s heritage conservation areas. These houses need a slower, more careful approach than a modern build, and that’s how we paint them.
On a period home the work is in the detail: the right products for old plaster and timber, original plasterwork prepared properly, and colours that suit the house. We also repaint apartment buildings in Woollahra for strata managers and body corporates.
If you need painters in Woollahra, call me on 0416 070 326 and I’ll come and quote it in person.
If you’re after house painters in Woollahra, we do interior and exterior house painting, commercial and strata painting, timber deck and exterior timber restoration and pressure washing across Woollahra. We’re licensed, insured and Dulux Accredited.
Woollahra's Victorian and Edwardian terraces and Federation homes reward proper preparation and compatible, breathable coatings — and punish shortcuts quickly. Preparation is the most important stage of every job, and on a period home the detail — ceiling roses, cornices and joinery — is where the labour goes. The house stays liveable while we work.
Older lime render needs a breathable coating system rather than a sealed acrylic skin, which traps moisture. Surfaces are filled, sanded, sealed and primed with the correct primer for each substrate before any colour goes on, and anything built before 1970 is tested for lead and handled to AS 4361.2 lead-safe practice, with containment and disposal.
Original timber joinery is repaired rather than buried under paint, and rust on iron lace is treated before any colour goes on. At our Union Street, Paddington project the rendered face, cast iron lacework balcony, window surrounds, columns and front fence were repainted as part of the same exterior.
Ceiling roses, cornices and detailed joinery add labour, and that's where the value is. Interior work also covers doors, architraves, skirtings and window frames, finished with the right sheen for each surface — a washable low-sheen on walls, and the appropriate sheen for wet areas, ceilings and trim.
Interiors are done room by room in a sequence agreed with you before we start, so the house stays liveable. Furniture is moved to the centre of each room and covered, floors are sheeted, and we clean up at the end of every day.
We also repaint apartment buildings for strata managers and body corporates: common property, with the full compliance pack (NSW licence 254277C, insurance certificates and a site-specific SWMS), a committee-ready quote and work sequenced around residents.
Three heritage and apartment jobs we’ve done in Paddington, Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay, with photos, what we did and the Dulux products we used:
A Victorian terrace with heritage cornicing, timber staircases with turned balusters, ornate fireplaces and French doors. The exterior — rendered face, cast iron lacework balcony, window surrounds, columns and front fence — was repainted in the same project.
View the project →A Victorian terrace where the old lime plaster was carefully removed from the staircase wall, and the original sandstock brick beneath was stabilised with a penetrating sealer and left as a feature. Walls, ceilings, heritage cornicing, timber joinery and staircase timbers were prepared and painted.
View the project →A waterfront apartment with sweeping views across the bay. Walls, ceilings, joinery, kitchen cabinetry and hallways were prepared and repainted, with walls and ceilings in Dulux Wash&Wear® Low Sheen.

We help you choose colours and finishes that suit the character of a period home, including the right sheen for walls, ceilings, trim and wet areas.
The quote includes a start date and an estimated number of working days. Original detail is prepared, not painted over, and if preparation turns up more than expected, we tell you early rather than rushing the finish.
We clean up at the end of every day and finish with a walk-through together — we don't leave until you're happy. The work is backed by our 5-year written workmanship guarantee.
We also paint in Darling Point, Double Bay, Paddington, Bellevue Hill and Rose Bay.
“Always does a fantastic job and leaves the house in a neat and tidy state. Really appreciate the options to choose from as well when it comes to toxic free paint.”

A common-property repaint on a strata block in Mosman. Inside the common areas: walls, ceilings, unit doors and door frames. Outside: balcony railings, balcony fascias and the soffits underneath them, plus the external doors to the common areas. The old green scheme was taken back to charcoal and white. We also pressure washed the exterior and did the car park line marking.
Photos, the full scope of works and every colour and product used are on the project page.
Yes. Woollahra is largely Victorian terraces and Federation homes — we use breathable systems on original render, repair rather than bury timber joinery, and treat rust on iron lace before any colour goes on.
Like-for-like repainting is generally exempt development. Painting previously unpainted masonry, or changing a listed item's scheme, is where approval comes in — a quick call to Woollahra Council's duty planner settles it.
2026 guide: terrace facade $6,000–$15,000; full heritage interior $12,000–$30,000+. Ceiling roses, cornices and detailed joinery add labour, and that's where the value is.
